2016 Spring Championship Hub: May 23 - May 31

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Five MIT teams will be competing at the national level this coming week including women's sailing, softball as well as men's and women's track and field. Individually, two members of the women's tennis team have qualified for the NCAA Division III Singles Championship. Keep checking back to this page for all information regarding each championship event.

Beginning on Tuesday, May 24, women's sailing will open competition in the  College Sailing / Sperry Women’s National Seminfinals. The semifinal round features two divisions with 14 teams each. The top-9 from each division will advance to the College Sailing / Sperry Women’s National Championship starting on Thursday, May 26 and continue into Friday, May 27.

For the first time in program history, the softball team will be competing in the NCAA Division III National Championship after sweeping WPI for the Super Regional Crown. The double-elimination tournament bracket competition opens on Thursday, May 26 when MIT will face-off against No. 18 Illinois Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m. The two teams which come out of the double-elimination phase will compete against one another in a best two out of three set to decide the National Champion later in the week.

Both junior Elysa Kohrs (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) and sophomore Dora Tzeng (Fremont, Calif.) have qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championship. This year marks the first time in program history in which two student-athletes have qualified for the singles bracket. The field of 32 has been released, but pairings will be revealed before the tournament begins on Thursday, May 26 at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Both the men's and women's track and field teams will be sending nine student-athletes to the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa beginning on Thursday, May 26 extending through Saturday, May 28.
