      <title>MIT Joins United Volleyball Conference; Begins Play in 2014</title>

      <description>ROCHESTER, N.Y. &#x2013; The MIT men's volleyball team will join the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) starting in 2014. The Engineers who have been an independent team for the past two seasons will begin conference play immediately with the UVC.</description>

      <title>MIT Finishes 10th in 2012-13 Division III Learfield Sports Directors&#x2019; Cup Standings</title>

      <description>CLEVELAND, Ohio &#x2013; Fueled by a record setting season that saw MIT win a school record 10 New England Women&#x2019;s and Men&#x2019;s Athletic Conference titles and send 17 teams to NCAA post season competition, the MIT Varsity Athletics program finished 10th in the nation in the final 2012-13 Division III Learfield Sports Directors&#x2019; Cup standings released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). It is the highest-ever finish for the program, which finished 11th in each of the past two seasons.</description>

      <title>MIT Receives Trio of Capital One Academic All-America At-Large First Team Honors</title>

      <description>CAMBRIDGE, Mass. &#x2013; Seniors Molly McShane (Lake Bluff, Ill.) and Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) along with junior Joseph Rafidi (Los Angeles, Calif.) were named to the Capital One Academic All-America At-Large First Team on Tuesday. The three first-team selections tied for the highest tally among Division III programs this year and is tied for the second most in MIT history. The Engineers are the all-time Division III leader in producing Academic All-Americas and currently ranks third across all NCAA Divisions with 199 honorees.</description>

      <description>SACRAMENTO, Calif. &#x2013; A trip across the country to California completed the 2012-13 season for the MIT women&#x2019;s lightweight crew team, where the Engineers competed in the 111th Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship. MIT took both Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 crews to Sacramento for the competition, which was held on Lake Natoma.</description>

      <description>BABSON PARK, Mass. &#x2013; MIT senior Lauren Kuntz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was selected as the New England Women&#x2019;s and Men&#x2019;s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Woman of the Year honoree at the conference&#x2019;s annual meetings on Wednesday. Kuntz, the 2013 NEWMAC pole vault champion, will be put forward as the conference&#x2019;s representative for the NCAA Woman of the Year award and will be considered for selection as one of the top candidates from each of the NCAA&#x2019;s three divisions.</description>

Senior Lauren Kuntz (Pittsburgh, Pa.), junior Jaclyn Konopka (Novi, Mich.) and sophomore Dacie Manion (Old Town, Maine) will represent MIT on the national ballot and will vie for Academic All-America honors to be voted on next month.</description>

The College of Charleston took top honors, finishing 20 points ahead of Georgetown as Dartmouth claimed third place.</description>

      <description>LA CROSSE, Wis. - On the third and final day of competition at the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday evening, the MIT women's track and field team were represented by  just two athletes. Senior Brooke Johnson (Shoreham, N.Y.) and freshman Sarah Quinn (Watchung. N.J.) competed in the 1500m before Johnson raced in the 5000m later that night.</description>
