    MIT Finishes 11th in Directors’ Cup Rankings CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Coming on the heels of one of the most successful campaigns in Institute history, MIT placed 11th among all Division III schools in the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) annual Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup. This was the highest ranking for the Engineers in the 14-year history of the program and the first time they were the best performers in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

    Houston, Paek, Li, and Kojimoto Named to MAC All-Academic Team CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Four members of the MIT rifle squad were recently named to the Mid-Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team. Seniors Emily Houston and Jennifer Paek, junior Justine Li, and sophomore Nigel Kojimoto all earned the honor for their outstanding efforts on the range and in the classroom. The quartet was the driving force in a stellar season for the Cardinal and Gray, which finished 14-3 in smallbore and 14-3 in air rifle.

    Tech Takes Smallbore Expert Division at MAC Championships NEW LONDON, Conn. – The MIT rifle team closed out a successful campaign in fitting fashion winning the smallbore expert division with a 2203-2196 victory over the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia at the Mid Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships hosted by U.S. Coast Guard Academy this past Saturday.

    Rifle Splits with Coast Guard, Finishes Regular Season Strong NEW LONDON, Conn. –The MIT rifle team defeated the host U.S. Coast Guard Academy in smallbore and just missed in sweeping the day’s outing when it was edged out by three points in air rifle in its last regular season competition on Saturday. The Engineers won the smallbore tilt by a count of 2177-2099, while falling in the air match, 2203-2200. Tech now stands at 12-3 in smallbore and 13-3 in air rifle.

    Golden Outing for Kojimoto leads MIT at Beanpot CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The host MIT rifle team finished second of five teams at its annual Beanpot event this past weekend, while winning out in its collegiate sectional match. The whole outing featured 82 competitors from five schools and 11 teams.

    It’s Houston and Kojimoto Again as Rifle Scores Big in Wins over VMI CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Emily Houston shot a 567 in smallbore and 572 in air rifle to lead host MIT to three victories in both guns over visiting Virginia Military Institute this past weekend. Nigel Kojimoto’s 554 in smallbore and 569 in air followed Houston as the next highest scores of the event. Overall, in smallbore, the Cardinal and Gray defeated VMI, 2209-2090, VMI mixed, 2209-2005, and VMI women, 2209-1508. The Engineers also swept in air rifle with a score of 2226, as VMI, VMI mixed, and VMI women tallied 2144, 2076, and 1536, respectively. With the victories, MIT improved its season ledgers to 7-1 in smallbore and 8-1 in air rifle.

    Houston, Kojimoto are Top Guns for Rifle in Win Over Mass. Maritime BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – Relishing another strong outing on the range, the MIT rifle team defeated host Mass. Maritime Academy in both guns this past Saturday, winning 2198-2098 in smallbore and 2223-2138 in air rifle. Emily Houston topped the board on both counts, scoring a 580 in air and a season-high 572 in smallbore. Nigel Kojimoto’s score’s of 568 in air and 550 in smallbore were the second and third highest scores in those circuits, respectively. The wins improved the Cardinal and Gray’s season ledgers to 4-1 in smallbore and 3-1 in air.

Tech fell, 2267-2178, in smallbore and 2314-2227 in air rifle.
