Houston, Paek, Li, and Kojimoto Named to MAC All-Academic Team

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Four members of the MIT rifle squad were recently named to the Mid-Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team. Seniors Emily Houston and Jennifer Paek, junior Justine Li, and sophomore Nigel Kojimoto all earned the honor for their outstanding efforts on the range and in the classroom. The quartet was the driving force in a stellar season for the Cardinal and Gray, which finished 14-3 in smallbore and 14-3 in air rifle.

Houston, who hails from Burke, Va., and Kojimoto, of Honolulu, Hawaii, led the Engineers on numerous occasions. Among the highlights, the duo paced MIT in two consecutive midseason wins over Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Virginia Military Institute.

Paek, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Li, of Timonium, Md., were often close behind. Both helped MIT almost pull off a sweep of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in the last regular-season match. The Engineers won in smallbore, while coming up three points shy in air rifle.

The MAC All-Academic Team is determined using the following criteria:
- The top 20 student-athletes that attain the highest combined overall grade point average multiplied by 190 and added to the highest final smallbore or air rifle average will determine the final ranking.
- The smallbore or air rifle averages must be computed from at least five separate matches.
