Oct. 2, 2005

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Behind the efforts of co-captain Taylor Barton, who set a personal record in smallbore, the Engineers' rifle squad opened the 2005 campaign with a dominating victory over the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Tech sealed the win with another strong effort in air rifle.

Barton set a new personal high with a score of 534 in smallbore. Her total led all competitors, while teammates Jay Gill (525) and Nathan Pfaff (524) finished just off her pace as MIT outdistanced the Bucanneers co-ed team, 2092-1762.

In air rifle, Pfaff was the top marksman after finishing with a score of 565. Taylor closed second with 531, while Gill totaled 526.

Making his collegiate debut, Jake Latham shot a 509 in smallbore and a 508 in air rifle.
