Engineers Compete at NEISA Team Racing Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The MIT sailing team competed at the Fowle Trophy NEISA Team Racing Championship hosted by Salve Regina University this past weekend. The Engineers finished in ninth place out of 12 teams with a 2-3 record.

Two groups of six teams sailed in preliminary round robins on Saturday in a southwest breeze ranging from 3-12 knots. The top four teams from each group advanced to the Gold Round, run mostly on Sunday morning in howling 15-25 knot winds.

Boston College won the championship with a 9-3 ledger, as Tufts University and Yale University rounded out the top three.

Other teams competing included Salve Regina, Roger Williams University, Brown University, Boston University, Harvard University, University of Vermont, Dartmouth College, and University of Rhode Island.
