Crain Shines with Eighth-Place Finish at N.E. Mens Singlehanded Championships
BRISTOL, R.I. – Sophomore star Philip
Crain finished eighth out of 22 entries at the New England
Men’s Singlehanded Championships hosted by Roger Williams
University this past Saturday.
In steadily increasing winds that topped out at 20 knots in the
first five races, Crain slotted sixth in the second round, while
posting a pair of 12th place finishes. Crain also took a stunning
fourth place in the last of the 10 tilts, when the wind suddenly
surged to almost 30 knots, resulting in a few capsizes. He placed
fifth and eighth in two of the later rounds, while also taking two
ninth place slots.
All courses were windward/leeward with an offset and leeward gate.
