CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – On Tuesday afternoon, 28 sailors in 14 boats from four different local colleges competed in MIT's first Midweek Tech Regatta of the season. A west wind at eight to 10 knots on the Charles River allowed for six races to be completed in a non-stop, no-rotation format.
Sam Madden and Hannah Duggan from Tufts University took top honors with 10 points, while the Engineers claimed the next four spots. Senior Neil Forrester (Falmouth, Mass.) and sophomore Angelique Nehmzow (Hong Kong) came in with 19 points, followed by senior Javier Ramos (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and freshman Priyanka Chatterjee (Columbus, Ga.), freshmen Zach Drach (Wilmington, N.C.) and Samantha Albright (Madison, Conn.), and freshmen Laura Dunphy (Shelburne, Vt.) and Bruno Faviero (Boca Raton, Fla.). Also competing for the Cardinal and Gray was junior David Rodriguez Fuentes (Tallahassee, Fla.) and freshman Brooke Winslow in addition to senior Omar Abudayyeh (Kalamazoo, Mich.) and freshman Christina Wettersten (Palo Alto, Calif.).
