Eamon Glackin Earns ICSA All-Academic Team Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior skipper Eamon Glackin (Huntington, N.Y.) was named to the second team of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) All-Academic Team, resulting in the MIT sailing program's 10th accolade in the four-year history of the award. A total of 18 sailors were recognized, with only four coming from the Division III ranks.

Majoring in mathematics and management science with a concentration in Spanish, Glackin competed in 12 regattas last season as a skipper. Highlights included a sixth place finish in the B Division at the Nevins Trophy, a fourth place ranking in the Moody Trophy B Division, and an eighth place performance in the A Division at the Erwin Schell Trophy.

The 2011 ICSA All-Academic Sailing Team recognizes collegiate sailors who have achieved excellence in national and inter-conference competition as well as excelling at the highest academic level for the 2010 – 2011 academic year. A nominated sailor must have a minimum of a 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale), junior or senior academic standing and they must be a key starter or reserve on a school's sailing team.
