CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In its first action of the season, the MIT women's sailing team finished 13th out of 20 squads at the Navy Spring Intersectional Regatta this past weekend. Georgetown secured the top spot, followed by Rhode Island and College of Charleston.
In the A Division, senior Katii Gullick (Portland, Maine) served as skipper with senior Jacqueline Soegaard (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and sophomore Keren Gu (Bowie, Md.) sharing duties as crew. The trio ranked 14th behind the strength of seven top 10 finishes in 20 rounds of action. MIT won the third and fifth races, was the runner-up in the third rotation, and claimed fifth in the 11th round.
Freshman Chloe Lepert (Belmont, Calif.), sophomores Hanna Vincent (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Iris Xu (Madison, Wis.), and Gu contributed to the Engineers' 15th place performance in the B Division. The Cardinal and Gray reached the top 10 on 10 occasions, highlighted by winning the 10th race, finishing third in the fifth round, and taking fifth place in the fourth rotation.
