Women’s Sailing Team Debuts in National Rankings

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following its outstanding performance at the Victorian Coffee Urn and subsequent qualification to the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship, the MIT women's sailing team was voted No. 11 in the latest Sperry – Top Sider College Rankings as announced by Sailing World. The ranking is the first for the Engineers this season while on the co-ed side MIT slipped one spot to No. 10 this week.

A member of the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association, the women's team is one of 10 squads from the league to earn a national ranking. Fellow conference foes include: Yale (No. 1), Dartmouth (No. 2), Boston College (No. 3), Brown (No. 8), Tufts University (No. 8), Rhode Island (No. 10), Roger Williams University (No. 12), U.S. Coast Guard Academy (No. 13), and Harvard (No. 14). The Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association was represented by two squads, followed by one from both the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association and Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference.
