Sailing Opens Spring Season At College of Charleston Women's Regatta

Charleston Women's Regatta at College of Charleston – 11th of 18 (A Division – 7th, B Division – 13th)

- The Lead: The No. 20 ranked women's sailing team opened the spring season with an 11th place finish at the Charleston Women's Regatta hosted by the College of Charleston in South Carolina over the weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The A Division vessel sailed by senior Lisa Sukharev-Chuyan (Temple, N.H.) as well as sophomores Noa Yoder (New York, N.Y.) and Annie Hughes (Guilford, Conn.) claimed seventh place with 72 points. The trio had a strong start as they won the first of ten races and then duplicated that effort two other times on Sunday. Sukharev-Chuyan, Yoder and Hughes had a particularly strong finish as they crossed the line first and third in the finals two races of the regatta.  

- Sukharev-Chuyan also teamed up with classmate Jorlyn Le Garrec (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and junior Greta Farrell (Huntington, N.Y.) as they claimed 13th place overall in the B Division. The B Division trio had their best races in rotation one as they took ninth and in rotation seven when they took eighth as they totaled 125 points over the two-day regatta.

- MIT will compete in the Sharpe Trophy hosted by Brown University this coming weekend – March 4 and March 5 beginning at 10:00 a.m. both days.
