Matt Cohen landed at the Institute in the fall of 2006 as one of the head sailing coaches. Responsible for the development and advancement of both the coed and women's sailing teams in their pursuit for excellence, Cohen assists with the Physical Education sailing programs and the maintenance of the Wood Sailing Pavilion's fleet of boats.
Before arriving at MIT, Cohen spent three years as the assistant coach at Roger Williams University. During his tenure at RWU, the sailing team rose to national prominence. Cohen has also been a program director at Wild Harbor and Chapoquoit Yacht Clubs in southern Massachusetts. He also spent three years as an Internet Marketer and eCommerce Director for a boating supply company in Rhode Island.
Originally from Falmouth, Mass., Cohen attended Tufts University and was a member of the Jumbos' sailing team that captured two National Championships. Cohen actively races in a variety of dinghies and small keelboats. Team Racing is one of his strong suits, where he has competed on both the national and international level.
