THROGS NECK, N.Y. - The MIT sailing team raised its game to finish in ninth-place out of 15 entries, after they slotted 10th in the opening rounds of the two-day Admiral Moore Regatta this past weekend. The Engineers rallied to surpass Washington College during the 15-round event, hosted by New York Maritime.
With winds building from 6-12 knots shifting west to north, both A and B divisions combined to boost the Cardinal and Gray into the higher spot. A-Division skipper Josh Leighton and crew Chuck Head joined the B team of Libby Palmer and Ashley Cantieny to give MIT the jolt it needed, as the Engineers bounced back from their struggles in last weekend's Sharpe Trophy.
Brown won the event with a score of 136.
The Engineers also finished in last of nine entries at the St. Mary's Trophy in St. Mary's Maryland.
MIT will host the Central Series next weekend along the Charles River.
