Engineers Finish Sixth at Veitor Trophy
March 19, 2007
NEWPORT, R.I. - Fighting cold conditions, with winds at 5-10 knots, the MIT sailing team placed sixth out of nine teams at the Veitor Trophy on Saturday. Sunday's races were cancelled due to wintry weather, frigid water, and swirling breezes that reached up to 20-30 knots. Boston College won the event, while host Salve Regina finished second.
Leading MIT's A-Division team were skipper Josh Leighton and crew Leigh Casabadan. Gabe Cira and Kim Harrison guided the "B" group.
The Central Series along the Charles River was cancelled due to bad weather.
MIT will host the Boston Dinghy Cup next weekend.
