PROVIDENCE, R.I. - With gusty winds blowing up to 10-20 knots all weekend, the MIT women's sailing team soared into sixth place out of 16 teams at the 23rd Brad Dellenbaugh Women's Trophy hosted by Brown University.

A Division skipper Libby Palmer and crews Regula Granger and Lisa Schlecht placed a strong fourth in their circuit. Schlecht raced in the first two rounds, while Granger supported Palmer for the rest of the 14 jousts.

In the "B" group, skipper Jamie Curran and crew Rachel Licht slotted seventh. Overall, the two teams beat out cross-town rival Harvard University by 11 points.

Amazingly, there were no capsizes among the teams on Sunday in the extremely high winds and heavy shifty conditions. There were a few capsizes on Saturday.

Yale University won event with a score of 119, while Brown settled for second at 127. The teams were separated by just three points heading into the last race. Rounding out the top five were Boston College, UMass Dartmouth, and Connecticut College.
