BOSTON, Mass. - A-Division skipper Libby Palmer and crew Ashley Cantieny finished fourth in their circuit, as MIT placed seventh overall out of 16 teams at the President's Trophy hosted by Boston University this past weekend.
Palmer and Cantieny were at their best on Sunday, a brisk day in which winds blew at a shifty 12-18 knots from the west. The duo placed in the top five in three of the five jousts, including second and first-place finishes in the sixth and seventh rounds, respectively.
The streak more than made up for a sub-par first day, in which MIT's top team cracked the top 10 in just one of the first three tilts. Saturday's breeze contrasted strikingly from the second day, as breezes reached only 2-10 knots shifting from the northeast to southwest.
B-Division finished 11th, after placing a respectable seventh in the opening round.
Harvard University won the event with a score of 60.
MIT will compete in the Central Series along the Charles River next weekend.
