NEW LONDON, Conn. - A-Division skipper Jack Field and crew Sylvia Yang led MIT to its best weekend performance, finishing ninth in their circuit, as the Engineers placed 12th overall out of 18 teams at the Thompson Trophy.

Amid sunny skies with winds blowing south at 5-8 knots, Field and Yang placed second, first, and third during Sunday's early rounds. Overall, the hot streak allowed the Engineers to beat out, among others, Brown University, University of Rhode Island, Georgetown University, and host U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Sixteen rounds were raced in each division during the two-day event.

MIT also finished 14th among 18 entries at the Morris Trophy hosted by Boston University.

At Connecticut College, the women's team placed 10th out of 13 teams at the Reed Trophy. A-Division skipper Libby Palmer and crew Ashley Cantieny ranked seventh in the higher circuit.

The Engineers were also the proud hosts of the MIT Invite, in which 25 teams competed.
