Engineers Finish Eighth at Fowle Trophy

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The MIT sailing team finished eighth out of 12 teams at the Fowle Trophy NEISA Team Race Championships hosted by Brown University this past weekend.

A combined 95 rounds were raced between Saturday and Sunday as the teams were seeded into two groups of six. The top four squads in each group advanced to the first of two Gold Fleet round robins with eight teams competing, while the final round saw six teams racing for the top spot. Winds ranged from 4-10 knots.

Competing for MIT were Jack Field, Brooks Reed, Jake Muhleman, Julie Arsenault, Elizabeth Hass, and Karlen Ruleman.

Boston College won the event with a record of 16-3. Other participants included Brown University, Harvard University, Tufts University, Yale University, Boston University, Connecticut College, Bowdoin College, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Roger Williams University, and University of Vermont.
