Palmer, Licht Take Top Score at Man-Labs Regatta

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - A-Division skipper Libby Palmer and crew Rachel Licht topped all entries at the Women's Man-Labs Regatta, as host MIT placed an overall fourth out of 10 teams in the season's opening event on Saturday.

Palmer and Licht scored a remarkable 37 to edge Yale University by four points. The duo finished in the top five in eight of the 10 rounds amid a beautiful 10-12 knot breeze along the Charles River.

Racing in Tech's colorful FJs, Palmer and Licht finished first in the opening joust, then placed second in the fourth, seventh, and eighth rounds.

Skipper Jamie Curran and crew Ashley Cantieny placed seventh for the `B' team, their best finish a fourth-place mark in the second tilt.

Harvard University won the event with a score of 134.

The Engineers also placed 14th out of 24 teams at the Harry Anderson Trophy hosted by Yale University. Skipper Brooks Reed and crew Karlen Ruleman finished eighth to lead the `B' group during the two-day event.

MIT will host the Hatch Brown Trophy next Saturday.
