CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Racing in their Tech Dinghies and FJs, host MIT placed 10th among 18 entries, Sunday, in the Rudolph Oberg Trophy. Inspired by skipper Jake Muhleman and crew Julie Arsenault, the Engineers ranked second only to event winner Roger Williams University in A-Division. Taking the northwest wind (12 knots) by storm, the duo finished with an immaculate score of 42, edging out Yale University (47), which placed third in the group. MIT also eked out the Bulldogs by one overall.
Fighting cold rain with temperatures in the mid 40's, Muhleman and Arsenault started strong, finishing atop the board in the first round above the Big Green of Dartmouth College, the Regatta's overall fourth-place achiever. The twosome also tallied a pair of second- and fourth-place slots to highlight the crucial first five rounds.
Tech's B and C teams didn't fare as well, finishing 14th and 12th, respectively.
