MIT Takes One of Three at Quad Match

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The host MIT squash team came away with one win in a quad match on Dec. 5, defeating Northeastern University, 5-4, while dropping 8-1 and 9-0 decisions to Tufts University and Middlebury College, respectively, leaving the Engineers with a 2-6 record heading into the holiday break.

John Kucharczyk. Joseph Lemberg, Ishaan Chugh, Sunny Long, and Connor Kirschbaum all posted victories against the Huskies. In the No. 4 slot, Kucharczyk swept his match, 11-7, 12-10, 11-6. At No. 6, Lemberg won in four games, 12-10, 6-11, 11-9, 11-9. Chugh took three straight, 11-7, 11-8, 11-8, in the seventh spot. At No. 8, Long rallied to win, 7-11, 11-4, 11-3, 14-12, while Kirschbaum swept, 11-4, 11-4, 11-4, in the ninth slot.

Steve Howland and Daniel Piemont both swept their matches in exhibition action. Howland won 11-2, 11-6, 11-8, while Piemont ran the table, 11-3, 11-2, and 11-7.

Against Tufts, Chugh, at the No.8 position, won the only match for MIT, 11-3, 6-11, 13-11, 11-5.

MIT will next host Amherst College on January 12.
