MIT Squash Defeats Boston University but Falls to Boston College
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT squash team faced Boston University and Boston College at home on Saturday afternoon, walking away with a record of 1-1. In the first match, the Engineers had a 6-3 win, while against Boston College, they had to fight but narrowly lost, 5-4. Their ledger now stands at 5-11.
Against Boston University, in the top spot, sophomore David Bian (Austin, Texas) started off strong when he won the first two games against his opponent, 11-6, 11-3, but lost the remaining three, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8, ultimately losing his match. Fellow sophomore Sung Won Cho (Lexington, Mass.) narrowly lost the first game, 11-9, but was able to make a comeback and win the remaining three, 11-6, 11-9, 11-6.
Sophomore Gray Riley (Wellesley, Mass.) made it look easy with his 11-7, 11-9, 11-4 wins over his opponent. Freshman Bowen Baker (Nevada City, Calif.) came from behind after losing his first two games, 11-6, 11-6, to win the final three, 11-2, 11-4, 11-1.
In the match against Boston College, junior Abhi Mitra (Medford, Mass.) lost his first game, 11-9, but was able to win the other three, 11-2, 11-2, 11-9, coming out on top in the end. Senior Connor Kirschbaum (Suffield, Conn.) played well against his opponent, winning 11-6, 11-8, 11-2.
The Engineers will return to action tomorrow when they travel down the road to face Harvard University at 4:00 p.m.
