MIT Squash Wins Against University of Washington at CSA Team Nationals

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - At its second match of the College Squash Association National Team Championships that took place on Saturday afternoon, the MIT squash team came out on top, defeating the University of Washington, 8-1. The Engineers are now 1-1 this weekend, after falling to Denison the day before.

Sophomore Gray Riley (Wellesley, Mass.) defeated his opponent, 11-6, 12-10, 11-9, in the top spot. Classmate David Bian (Austin, Texas) won his first game against Padmakumar, 11-3, but lost the next two, 13-11, 11-8. He came from behind to win the next game, 11-8, and sealed the deal with an 11-7 win in the final game, winning the match, 3-2.

Freshman Marina Crowe (Swarthmore, Pa.) won a hard-fought match against Lupa. She won the first game, 11-7, but fell in the second one, 13-11. She came back to easily win the final two, 11-3, 11-5. Fellow freshman Tatsiana Ivonchyk (River Edge, N.J.) was victorious over Rixse, winning the first game, 11-7, before dropping the second, 11-4. She won the final two games, 11-8. 11-2. Senior Connor Kirschbaum (Suffield, Conn.) easily defeated Khan, 11-2, 11-5, 11-0 to end the day.

MIT will next compete in the CSA Individual Nationals that will take place from Fri.-Sun., March 1-3.
