Rolland Named as NEWMAC Baseball Player of the Week

Westwood, Mass. (March 5) -- MIT baseball freshman shortstop Ethan Rolland (Burke, Va.) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week for his performance in three games vs. No. 15 ranked Trinity University last week in Texas.

In a three-game series in San Antonio, Rolland hit .667 vs. the Tigers with eight hits, five RBI, two runs scored and three multi-hit games. In his first game, he was 3-for-4 with four RBI and in game two, he picked up his first career double in another three-hit performance. Rolland finished the series with a .667 on-base percentage and slugged .750 in his collegiate debut.

MIT returns to action on Tuesday afternoon as the Engineers travel to No. 3 UMass Boston for a non-conference game beginning at 3 p.m.
