Jason Witzberger Named NEWMAC Player of the Week

CAMBRDIGE, Mass. - Junior Jason Witzberger was named NEWMAC Baseball Player of the Week after serving as the Engineers' offensive catalyst at the top of the order. Witzberger batted a team-best .615 (8-of-13) in three games as MIT opened the season with three straight wins for the first time since 1984.

Serving in the lead-off spot, Witzberger went 3-of-5 with two doubles, two RBI, four runs and a stolen base in a 16-5 win over Wentworth. In a double-header sweep over NEWMAC-rival Clark on Saturday, Witzberger combined to go 5-of-8, with a run, two RBI and another stolen base. He has opened the year with three consecutive multi-hit games.
