Wayne Duggan Tabbed NEWMAC Player of the Week For the Second Time

April 19, 2005

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the second time this season, junior secondbaseman Wayne Duggan will enter a seven-day stretch as the reigning NEWMAC Player of the Week after copping the honor with a dominating effort against league-rival WPI.

Duggan was a monster on the mound and at the plate in leading MIT to a sweep over NEWMAC rival WPI. Pitching seven innings for the win in game two of a scheduled doubleheader, Duggan (4-0) allowed only two runs, while striking out a career-high nine batters. At the plate, he went 4-for-5 with a game-high four RBI.

In a 4-1 week for the Engineers, Duggan scored a run and delivered an RBI in every game. He finished with nine RBI for the week, while batting .571 (12-for-21).

A 2004 Second Team All-Conference selection, Duggan became the first MIT player since 2001 to elicit weekly honors from the NEWMAC earlier this season.
