CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior outfielder David Nole was named NEWMAC Player of the Week in baseball after a strong week at the plate that has the MIT nine surging into the postseason.
Nole broke out of a mild, season-long slump with a terrific stretch that helped MIT finish 5-1 in the final week before postseason play. Nole hit safely in all six games last week and has belted at least two hits in five straight games. Nole finished 12-for-23 with eight runs scored and 13 RBI. He drove in four runs in two different games, and drove in at least one run in all but one game. He was also 3-for-3 on the basepaths and had six putouts without an error in left field.
At Clark on Saturday, Nole hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie and secure the No. 3 seed for MIT in the upcoming NEWMAC Championship Tournament.
