CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the fourth time this season, MIT sophomore Noel Hollingsworth has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Hollingsworth helped MIT pick up a pair of road victories last week, as the No. 12 Engineers improved to 17-2 and 6-1 in conference play. Hollingsworth averaged 23.0 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting over 73% from the field in wins over Coast Guard and WPI.
Hollingsworth began the week with 25 points, on 10-13 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and 2 blocks in a 78-58 defeat of Coast Guard. He followed that up with 21 points and four boards, including a clutch lay-up with 25 seconds left, as Tech outlasted WPI, 74-66. With the win, MIT swept the season series with the Worcester Engineers for the first time since 2003.
The Engineers, who moved up to No. 12 in the latest D3Hoops.com Top 25, begin a three-game home stand on Wednesday when they welcome Babson College to Rockwell Cage at 7:00 p.m.
