CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second time in the season's first three weeks, MIT senior Noel Hollingsworth (Salt Lake City, Utah) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday. Hollingsworth averaged 22.3 points and 7.6 rebounds while shooting 61.7% from the field to help the No. 9 Engineers win three games last week and improve to 8-0.
The big man was at his best on Thursday at Newbury College, pouring in 33 points to go along with 14 rebounds and a pair of blocks in just 25 minutes of action during a 93-50 win.
Against Emerson College on Tuesday night, Hollingsworth connected on seven-of-11 shots from the field en route to 17 points. He also grabbed three boards and had three blocked shots. He then added 17 more points during Saturday's 92-52 win over Lesley University.
The Cardinal and Gray will continue play with three games this week, starting with Tuesday night's cross-town matchup against UMass-Boston.
