KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After a standout senior season that saw him lead the MIT men's basketball team in scoring and rebounding, senior Will Tashman (Atherton, Calif.) picked up another postseason honor today when the National Association of Basketball Coaches announced its 2013 Division III All-District Teams and Coaches. Voted on by NABC member coaches in Division III, Tashman was named a first team all-district player and is the third player in program history to be selected to the prestigious NABC All-Region squad.
Tashman, who was the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Athlete of the Year and a first team all-conference selection, averaged a double-double this season with his 16.3 ppg and 10.8 rpg averages. A three-time NEMWAC Player of the Week, Tashman led the conference in rebounding while leading the Engineers in both scoring and rebounding. The MIT career leader in rebounds, Tashman became the first MIT player to reach 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career this season. He finished among the top-10 all-time at MIT in points (1,414), rebounds (1,023), field goal percentage (.541), free throw percentage (.740), assists (270) and blocks (82).
In addition to Tashman, fellow senior Noel Hollingsworth (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Jimmy Bartolotta '09 are MIT's previous NABC All-District selections. Both players were two-time picks, with Hollingsworth named first team in 2010 and second team in 2012. Bartolotta was a second team pick in 2008, getting first team accolades in 2009.
