The 6-foot-5 forward on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology men’s basketball team and environmental engineering major was sitting in his Multiscale Characterization of Materials class recently when the vibrating phone in his pocket let him know that someone was trying to reach him.
  • Tim Roberts Named as CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-America

    MIT junior forward Tim Roberts (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) has been named as a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division III Second Team Academic All-America selection. This is the first career Academic All-America honor for Roberts as he is the 12th all-time selection for MIT men's basketball and the first since the 2012-13 season.

    In the D3Hoops.com All-Region Teams, three members of the MIT men’s basketball team were honored for their play during the 2017-18 season. Junior Bradley Jomard (Paris, France) was named to the All-Region Second Team, while junior AJ Jurko (Weston, Fla.) was a Fourth Team honoree and freshman Hamilton Forsythe (Weston, Conn.) was tabbed as the Co-Rookie of the Year.

    Ramapo’s Christopher Moseley knocked down two free throws with 0.9 seconds left in the game to defeat No. 19 MIT by a 68-66 final in the Elite Eight of the 2018 NCAA Division III Tournament. This marked the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
  • No. 19 Engineers Set for Sweet 16 Matchup With Middlebury

    The No. 19 ranked MIT men’s basketball team returns to action in the Sweet 16 of the 2018 NCAA Division Men’s Basketball Championship on Friday evening vs. No. 18 Middlebury. The game, which is a 5:30 p.m. tipoff, is being hosted at the Bradley Center on the campus of Ramapo College. The Roadrunners will take on Franklin & Marshall in the second game beginning at 7:30 p.m.
  • Men's Basketball Moves Onto the Elite Eight With 79-76 Win Over Middlebury

    In a game that was a single-possession contest for much of the second half, the No. 19 ranked MIT men’s basketball team rallied past No. 18 Middlebury on Friday night to advance to the 2018 NCAA Division III Elite Eight. This is just the second Elite Eight appearance in program history and the first time since the 2011-12 season that saw MIT end up in the Final Four. This was the team’s first meeting with Middlebury since the opener of the 2006-07 season as the Engineers now hold a 13-6 advantage over the Panthers.
  • SWEET 16 BOUND! Men's Basketball Defeats Johns Hopkins, 62-54, to Advance in the NCAA Tournament

    In a game that saw the lead go back and forth throughout, the No. 19 ranked MIT men’s basketball team used a late 9-1 run to come away with a 62-54 win over No. 12 Johns Hopkins to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Tournament. This is just the second Sweet 16 appearance in program history and the first time since the 2011-12 season that saw MIT end up in the Final Four. This is the fourth all-time meeting between the two schools and the first since 1984-85 as MIT now holds a 3-1 advantage over the Blue Jays.
  • No. 19 Engineers Advance Past Brockport Into NCAA Second Round

    Led by four players in double figures and clutch shooting from three, the No. 19 ranked MIT men’s basketball team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament with an 81-67 win over Brockport on Friday night at Johns Hopkins. This marks the eighth NCAA Tournament for the Engineers under 23rd-year head coach Larry Anderson and the fourth time MIT has advanced to the second round.

(February 27) -- In the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference Teams, MIT had four student-athletes recognized for their play in the 2017-18 season. Sophomore Nacho Nwana (White Plains, N.Y.) was named as the league’s Co-Defensive Player of the Year, while freshman Hamilton Forsythe (Weston, Conn.) earned Rookie of the Year accolades. Junior Bradley Jomard (Paris, France) was named to the First Team, while junior AJ Jurko (Weston, Fla.) earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team and was an All-Sportsmanship Team selection for the second time.
  • Men's Basketball Takes On Brockport in NCAA First Round

    Indianapolis, Ind. (February 26) -- Coming off the program’s second straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship, the MIT men’s basketball team has earned the league’s automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship. The Engineers will take on Brockport in a first-round matchup that will take place on March 2nd at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.
  • Men's Basketball Captures Second Straight NEWMAC Championship!

    Led by four players in double figures and a 16-point outing from Tournament Most Outstanding Player AJ Jurko (Weston, Fla.), the No. 3 seeded MIT men’s basketball captured the NEWMAC Championship with a 63-57 win over WPI on Sunday in Springfield. This is the sixth NEWMAC Championship for the Engineers under head coach Larry Anderson and will be the team’s eighth NCAA Tournament appearance. MIT has now defeated WPI in the NEWMAC Tournament for three straight seasons, including last year’s semifinal game at Babson.
  • Jurko Leads No. 3 Engineers Into the NEWMAC Championship Game

    Led by a 23-point, 11-assist double-double from junior AJ Jurko (Weston, Fla.), the No. 3 seeded MIT men’s basketball team advanced to the NEWMAC Championship Game with a 70-61 win over No. 2 seeded Babson College on Saturday afternoon. MIT will now take on WPI for the league title on Sunday afternoon after the Engineers upset top-seeded Springfield College in overtime in the first semifinal.

The Engineers sweep the regular-season series from WPI and have now defeated their rivals in six straight meetings.

The triple-double is the second of Jomard’s career and just the third in program history.

This is the second straight win for the Engineers over the Beavers, including last year’s NEWMAC Championship Game.
