CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the second time this season, MIT tri-captain Billy Johnson was named NEWMAC Player of the week in men's basketball. Playing in his final regular-season home game, Johnson erupted for a career-high 40 points as the Engineers raced past Clark, 97-89, on Senior Night.
In MIT's only game of the week, Johnson helped the Engineers cement the No. 2 seed in the NEWMAC Championship Tournament after closing 13-of-23 from the floor and 6-of-13 from three-point range. He added six rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block, while becoming just the fourth player in MIT history to score 40 points in one game.
