Heavyweight Crew Third In Wisconsin

BARABOO, Wis. – It was a light weekend of racing for the MIT heavyweight crew team. The squad fielded just a freshman eight boat against crews from Dartmouth College and host University of Wisconsin in a race that was moved to Devils Lake State Park in Baraboo, Wisconsin due to weather.

Racing in conditions that included temperatures in the low 40s and rain; the novice MIT crew put up a good fight, but in the end finished third over the 2,000-meter course. The host Badgers came out on top as they held off the Big Green by 1.1 seconds. The Engineers finished third, 21.7 seconds off Wisconsin's pace.

MIT will now prepare for the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC) Sprints Championship that will be held on May 13. The racing will take place on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
