Men's Heavyweight Crew Completes Head of the Charles
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - On a sunny, clear-skied weekend in New England, MIT men's heavyweight crew opened its 2012-13 season at the 48th annual Head of the Charles, the world's largest rowing regatta. The Engineers were 21st out of 38 teams in the Men's Club Eights on Saturday and 26th of 28 teams in the Men's Championship Eights on Sunday.
Bow #19, led by sophomore coxswain Alex Feldstein (Bondurant, Iowa), started the weekend off well when it crossed the line in a time of 16:25.97, finishing half a second faster than the Army Rowing Club. Bow #25, with junior Charles Hsu (Taipei, Taiwan) in the stern, competed in the Men's Championship Eights race on Sunday afternoon and finished with a time of 16:14.48.
MIT will compete in three more events this year, the next of which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Princeton, before closing the 2012 season and returning to the water again in April of next year.
