CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - A strong heavyweight crew from Columbia University bested MIT and Holy Cross to take home the Alumni Cup for the second year in a row. In it's first race against EARC opponents, The Engineers' varsity boat fell behind Holy Cross and Columbia at the start before finishing third overall.
MIT stayed in contact with Holy Cross for most of Saturday's race, but Columbia steadily powered away, winning by three seconds over Holy Cross and finishing eight seconds ahead of the Engineers. MIT hopes to find a stronger rhythm by April 14, when Tech faces Williams, WPI and Connecticut College in the Donahue Cup, in Worcester, Mass.
