CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Benjamin Lin (Beaverton, Ore.) and sophomore Tzer Wong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) represented the MIT men's fencing team on the Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) All-Star Sabre first team. The awards mark the 13th year in a row the Engineers have received multiple selections and second straight with two placements on the sabre list.
A three-time first-team pick, Lin compiled an NFC record of 25-2 as he won 93 percent of his bouts. Wong, a second-team qualifier last year, was 28-2 in the conference and had a .900 winning percentage.
The NFC is comprised of Division I, Division III, and club programs from Boston College, Boston University, Brandeis University, Brown University, Dartmouth College, UMass, University of New Hampshire, Sacred Heart University, Smith College, Tufts University, Vassar College, and Wellesley College.
MIT returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the New England Championship to be hosted by Wellesley.
