Men’s Fencing Finishes Fourth at New England Championship

WELLESLEY, Mass. – For the second year in a row, the MIT men's fencing team finished fourth at the New England Championship hosted by Wellesley College on Saturday. Sophomore Tzer Wong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), who was the runner-up in the sabre competition last year, edged out junior Benjamin Lin (Beaverton, Ore.) for the individual title while helping the squad claim first place out of 11 teams. Junior Sam Judd (Wyckoff, N.J.) earned a bronze medal for the epee contingent with his third-place tie as the Engineers ranked second overall. Junior Matthew Cavuto (Skillman, N.J.) claimed 10th place in the foil standings while the unit finished sixth.

MIT returns to action on Sunday, March 13 when it travels to Vassar College for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship.
