Men's Fencing Opens NFC Action with Three Wins

Cambridge, Mass. (November 19) - For the second year in a row the MIT men's fencing team produced a 3-2 record at its first Northeast Fencing Conference competition which it hosted on Saturday. The Engineers defeated UMass Amherst (20-7), University of New Hampshire (23-4), and Boston University (20-7) but fell to Brandeis University (17-10), and Sacred Heart University (14-13). Junior Tzer Wong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) paced the sabre team with a 10-1 ledger while senior Sam Judd (Wyckoff, N.J.) led the epee unit with a 7-2 record. Sophomore Kwabena Ofori-Atta (Herndon, Va.) was the top performer for the foil team as he won all five of his bouts.
