Men's Fencing Takes Second Place at New England Championship

Burlington, Vt. (March 4) – Due to tiebreakers the MIT men's fencing team was the runner-up to Boston College at the New England Championship, resulting in its best showing since 2014. Junior Tzer Wong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) won the sabre individual title for the second year in a row as the squad finished third overall. Freshman Sheel Patel (El Paso, Texas) captured seventh place, helping the epee unit secure first place. Freshmen Avi Zeff (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Arjun Gupta (Springfield, Va.) ranked ninth and 11th, respectively, in the foil standings while the contingent placed fifth.

MIT returns to action on Sunday, March 12 when it travels to Yale University for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship.
