Igor Kopylov and Spencer Sugimoto Qualify for NCAA Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - This past weekend, the MIT men's fencing team competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional hosted by Harvard University. For the second year in a row, the Engineers will send two members of their squad to the NCAA Championship meet to be held March 18-19 in Houston, Texas. Spencer Sugimoto led the way with an eighth-place finish in foil while Igor Kopylov took ninth in sabre.
Also representing Tech in foil action was Jason Chen (22nd place) and Benjamin Switala (25th). Brian Quattrochi and William Walsh rounded out the sabre squad with rankings of 24th and 31st. Trevor Chang and Michael Beregovsky finished 13th and 22nd, respectively, in the epee competition.
