Men's Fencing Closes Season at NCAA Regional

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - This past weekend, the MIT men's fencing team competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional hosted by Tufts University. Gabriel Chan, Trevor Chang, and Igor Kopylov just missed the cut in earning at-large bids in qualifying for the National Championship. Chan and Chang placed 11th and 13th in the epee pool while Kopylov ranked 14th in the sabre competition.
Matt Gethers bolstered the epee team's efforts with a final ranking of 33rd. Namit Setia and Nadadur Rangarajan rounded out MIT's sabre squad by placing 20th and 26th. In foil action, Jason Chen posted the highest finish of his career at 10th place as Spencer Sugimoto captured 24th place.
