Engineers Battle at Brandeis Invite

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men’s fencing team fell to Yale University (15-12), Brown University (20-7), and St. John’s University (15-12) at the Brandeis University Invitational on Sunday. The losses moved the Engineers’ record to 3-8 as they enter the holiday break.

The epee team notched a ledger of 13-14, including a 5-4 win over Yale. Gabriel Chan and Matt Gethers both finished with marks of 6-3 while Carter Chang went 1-8.

A 7-2 win against St. John’s helped propel the foil team to an 11-16 record. Richard LaGrandier led the charge with a total of 5-4, followed by Benjamin Nield (4-5), and Daniel Levine (2-7).

The sabre squad battled to a tally of 7-20 as Maximilian Brand and Igor Kopylov both finished at 3-6. Rangarajan Nadadur rounded out the contingent with a mark of 1-8.
