CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the third year in a row, the Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) selected senior Trevor Chang as the Male Fencer of the Year. Last season, he became the first athlete in conference history to earn this honor in back-to-back seasons. Chang compiled a record of 23-4 in epee competition as he received his fourth All-Conference honor.
Joining Chang on the All-Conference Epee First Team was Gabriel Chan, who collected his first NFC accolade. Spencer Sugimoto was tabbed for the All-Conference Foil First Team for his third career award. Igor Kopylov picked up his second plaudit after being named to the All-Conference Sabre First Team while rookie Rangarajan Nadadur represented MIT on the Second Team.
The Engineers will begin postseason competition on Saturday, Feb. 24 when they host the New England Fencing Championship.
Teams in the Northeast Fencing Conference include Boston College, Boston University, Brandeis University, Brown University, Dartmouth College, the University of Massachusetts, the University of New Hampshire, and Tufts University.
