CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Justin Wallace's (Palatine, Ill.) career night running the ball against Nichols College on Saturday has earned him New England Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors the league announced today. He is the first MIT player to earn Player of the Week honors this season.
Wallace ran for a career-high 190 yards, tied the Institute record for carries in a game with 41, and scored three times to lead MIT to a 23-0 win over Nichols as the Engineers snapped a six-game winless streak. After MIT had picked up an early field goal, Wallace took care of the rest of the scoring for the Engineers. He got things started with a 20-yard scamper in the first quarter and then put the game away for MIT with scoring runs of four and nine yards in the third and fourth quarters respectively.
Wallace has now rushed for 892 yards and seven TDs this season, with his rushing total currently the fifth best in a single season in the MIT record book.
