Pair of Football Freshmen Named Finalists for National Scholar Athlete Award

IRVING, Texas – Two members of the incoming MIT 2014 freshmen football class have been named finalists for the 2014 National Football Foundation (NFF) High School National Scholar-Athlete Award it was announced by the organization. Freshmen Jacob Del Priore (Center Valley, Pa.) and Mitch Turley (Westfield, Ind.) are among the 36 finalists from across the nation.

Del Priore was nominated by the NFF Lehigh Valley (Pa.) Chapter and is an East Region nominee. A Midwest Region nominee, Turley was nominated by the NFF Central Indiana Chapter. The NFF will honor one player from each of the five national regions in an announcement that will be made the week of October 9.

Each of the five winners will travel to New York City to be honored during the NFF Chapter Awards Luncheon, presented by Under Armour, on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. First bestowed in 1991, the NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete Awards have become one of the most prestigious high school honors in the country. Criteria for the award include but are not limited to academic achievement, athletic accolades and community involvement.
