CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior running back DeRon Brown has been named New England Football Conference (NEFC) Offensive Player of the Week following another sensational performance that lifted MIT to its fifth win of the season. Brown, who entered last Saturday’s football game against Salve Regina University as the nation’s leading rusher, rushed for 248 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries as the Engineers dropped the Seahawks, 34-19.
Brown scored on a career-long 81-yard run midway through the third quarter while adding scores from one, nine, and 68 yards to equal last week’s four-touchdown effort. In the last two games, Brown has rushed for 456 yards and eight TDs.
MIT (5-3), which hosts league power Plymouth State (7-1) this weekend, has already set Institute records for points in a season, rushing yards and total offense.
