CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT men's lacrosse team capped off its remarkable season with a slew of awards from the Pilgrim Lacrosse League. For the eighth time in his career, Walter Alessi was tabbed for Coach of the Year accolades after guiding the Engineers to their first playoff appearance since 2001.
NORTON, Mass. - In its first appearance in the Pilgrim Lacrosse League Tournament since 2001, the No. 3 seeded MIT men's lacrosse team fell to No. 2 Wheaton College, 14-7, on Wednesday. Ryan Ballentine led the Engineers (7-8) with two goals and two assists as Dylan Roden posted two goals, an assist, and four groundballs. Neil Zimmerman tallied one goal and five groundballs while Corey Garvey and Eric Zuk each contributed four groundballs. Patrick Shannon added five groundballs as Garth Grove collected 11 saves.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - MIT closed out its regular season with a 13-2 loss to host Springfield College in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League game on Saturday. Despite the defeat, the Engineers (7-7, 4-3 NEWMAC) earned a spot in the Pilgrim Championship Tournament for the first time since 2001 and will be making the fourth appearance in the program's history.
