MIT Finishes 11th in Directors’ Cup Rankings
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Coming on the heels of one of the most successful campaigns in Institute history, MIT placed 11th among all Division III schools in the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) annual Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup. This was the highest ranking for the Engineers in the 14-year history of the program and the first time they were the best performers in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

Pilgrim League Announces Postseason Awards
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. For the second year in a row, MIT received a trio of Pilgrim League All-Conference accolades. Eric Zuk collected his second straight Second-Team selection while Bryan Beller and Carl Tilbury earned their first awards by being picked to the First and Second Teams, respectively.

MIT Falls to Springfield in Pilgrim Semifinal
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. Kyle Gable pumped in four goals to lead the top-seeded Springfield College men's lacrosse team back to the Pilgrim Lacrosse League Tournament Championship after it defeated fourth-seeded MIT, 14-5, on Wednesday night on Stagg Field. With the win, the Pride improved to 11-5 on the year, while the Engineers saw their season end with a ledger of 8-7. Despite the loss, MIT registered its first winning campaign since 2001.

Dan Piemont Voted Pilgrim League Player of the Week
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Junior attacker Dan Piemont earned MITs first Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Week selection after helping power the Engineers to their second straight playoff appearance. In a 2-0 week, he recorded seven goals, including a pair of game-winners and man-up scores.

Engineers Defeat Clark, Advance to Pilgrim Tournament
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. A 9-3 run that spanned the second and third quarters helped power MIT to a 10-7 victory over Clark University in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League game on Saturday. With the win, the Engineers (8-6, 4-3 Pilgrim) secured a spot in the conference championship tournament for the second year in a row and will continue their season on Wednesday, May 5 at a location to be determined following the conclusion of regular season play. The Cougars closed their campaign with an overall mark of 6-8 and a 2-5 Pilgrim ledger.

Men's Lacrosse Tops Norwich, 8-7, in Overtime
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Alex Andrzejewski intercepted a pass at midfield and found Dan Piemont for the game-winning goal with three seconds left in overtime to give MIT an 8-7 victory over Norwich University in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League contest on Wednesday. Piemont finished with four goals as the Engineers improved to 7-6 on the year and 3-3 in conference play. Jesse Mattson notched three goals and an assist for the Cadets (8-7, 1-5 Pilgrim).

Babson Powers Past MIT, 15-9
BABSON PARK, Mass. The Babson College mens lacrosse team defeated visiting MIT, 15-9 on Saturday afternoon in a Pilgrim League contest at MacDowell Field. Nine different Beavers scored in the win including James Schmidt, who led all players with four goals and one assist. With the win, Babson improved to 9-5 on the season and 4-1 in the Pilgrim League. MIT saw its record move to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in the Pilgrim League.

Corey Garvey Reaches Milestone in Win over Mass. Maritime
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. With two goals and five assists, senior Corey Garvey reached the 100 career-point mark in MITs 12-3 victory over the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League tilt on Wednesday night. The Engineers extended their winning streak to four while raising their record to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in conference action. The Buccaneers, led by two goals from Chris Davis, saw their ledger dip to 2-10 on the year and 0-4 in the Pilgrim League.

MIT Tops Lasell, 5-1
NEWTON, Mass. The MIT mens lacrosse team improved to a 5-5 overall slate and a 1-2 mark in Pilgrim League play after defeating Lasell College, 5-1, on a rainy and cold Saturday afternoon at Grellier Field. The Lasers fall to a 2-10 mark this season and a 1-3 conference record.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. In the first meeting between both programs, the MIT mens lacrosse team registered a 14-5 victory over visiting Salem State College on Tuesday afternoon. Corey Garvey posted a game-high five points on one goal and four assists for the Engineers (4-5). The Vikings saw eight different players earn a point as their ledger lowered to 6-4 on the year.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. An 8-1 scoring advantage in the first half helped power Springfield College to a 16-4 win over MIT in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League game on Saturday. The Prides (5-4, 3-0 Pilgrim) Kyle Gable led all scorers with five points on four goals and an assist while seven of his teammates each recorded at least two points. Corey Garvey paced the Engineers (3-5, 0-2 Pilgrim) with one goal and three assists.

BOSTON, Mass. Gabe Blanchet netted three goals and Corey Garvey tallied four points to lead the MIT mens lacrosse team to a 9-6 victory over host University of Massachusetts Boston at the Clark Athletic Center field on Tuesday. With the win, the Engineers improved to 3-4 overall while the Beacons fell to 2-5.

Balanced Scoring Leads Wheaton to 12-9 Win Over MIT in Pilgrim Opener
NORTON, Mass.- The Wheaton College men's lacrosse team had four players record at least two goals during a 12-9 victory over visiting MIT in a Pilgrim League opener for both teams on Saturday at Mirrione Stadium. The Lyons, who have won nine of their last 11 meetings with the Engineers, evened their season record at 3-3, while MIT, which played in just its third game since March 17, fell to 2-4.

MIT Announces Lacrosse Webcasting Schedule
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. MIT has announced the addition of men's and women's lacrosse to its webcasting schedule. Each team is tentatively scheduled to broadcast two games during the 2010 season.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Dan Piemont and Nick Sisler each posted two points as MIT fell to UMass-Dartmouth, 10-4, in a non-conference mens lacrosse game on Wednesday. The defeat lowered the Engineers record to 2-3 on the year.

Garvey, Piemont Help Engineers Power Past Husson, 11-3
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Five unanswered goals in the third quarter, including three in a span of two minutes, helped lift the MIT mens lacrosse team to an 11-3 victory over Husson University in a non-conference game on Tuesday. Corey Garvey amassed a game-high seven points for the Engineers (2-1), as he finished with three goals and four assists. His four helpers resulted in four out of Dan Piemonts five goals. The Eagles saw their ledger dip to 0-4 following the inaugural meeting between both squads.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Four goals in the second quarter broke open the game as Salve Regina University went on to record an 11-4 victory over host MIT in a non-conference mens lacrosse contest on Saturday. The Seahawks (2-2) turned in a trio of four-point performances. Brendan Rooney racked up four goals, followed by three goals and an assist from Chris Walker and two goals and two assists by Michael Augustus. Corey Garvey paced the Engineers (1-1) attack with a goal and an assist.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. A solid second half that featured six unanswered goals during final 23 minutes of action helped power the MIT mens lacrosse team to a 10-6 victory over Curry College on Wednesday. The Engineers picked up their first season-opening win since 2006 while the Colonels moved to 2-1 on the year.
