NEW LONDON, Conn. – Frank Hackett registered the game-winning goal in the 77th minute to power the U.S. Coast Guard Academy to a 2-1 win over MIT in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men’s soccer game. The Bears (5-8, 1-3 NEWMAC) snapped a three-game losing streak and picked up their first conference win of the year while the Engineers dropped to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the NEWMAC.

Matt Zangle converted a feed from Brett Godiksen just 4:17 into the contest. The slight edge would hold up for the remainder of the half. MIT notched the equalizer in the 64th minute when Ben Lewis connected on a pass by Kevin Chou.

In net, Tim Olah collected 11 saves for the Bears while Dylan Rankin recorded six stops for the Engineers.
